Christmas in Utrecht: the Dom, the Oudegracht and Sinterklaas
In December the Dom Tower, the tallest church tower in the Netherlands, looks out over an illuminated city centre, and the wharf cellars along the Oudegracht are full of terraces and festive little shops. But in Utrecht, too, Christmas only starts after Sinterklaas. Order in November; put your tree up on 6 December and it stays perfect until Epiphany.

Tree collection in January? Not with an artificial tree
In January the City of Utrecht collects real Christmas trees at drop-off points in the neighbourhoods. But the tree has to come downstairs, be transported (often by bike) and you keep sweeping needles, while many students are still away on holiday.
